Steve Anderson's venture into the world of cooking began a number of years ago, when his children were in elementary school. Steve and his wife, Karen, would stay home on Saturday night and Steve would cook. The girls would get pizza and watch TV and Steve would make a nice dinner for Karen and himself. His first interest was the Grill (living in Texas at the time, it was a virtual requirement to be able to BBQ) but then he ventured into the kitchen to try out some recipes that sounded enticing. (His mother-in-law always told him, "If you can read, you can cook.")
He took her message to heart, and began to read cooking magazines with a zealousness most men save for Monday night football. Friends starting coming over to sample his culinary expertise and word quickly spread and the next thing he knew he was giving dinner parties, much to everyone's delight.
His love for food quickly expanded (no pun intended) into a love for wine and he began to pair his foods with wonderful, reasonably priced wines. He and his youngest daughter, Stephanie, went to cooking school together at a nearby Viking store and and they still often cook together. Steve's next culinary venture happens in just a few weeks when he and Steph are scheduled to take a course in Italian Cooking. Karen is elated!
